History: The Working of the Wool is a Belgian jacquard wall tapestry. The original medieval tapestry was woven in around year 1520 in Tournai and now hangs in the Louvre in Paris. This scene demonstrates the different jobs and processes involved in working wool. The shepherd stands at center minding the sheep. On the right a woman sheers, and at the left another lady spins carded wool into yarn. The group is in a garden-like setting with a mille fleurs background.
