Toulouse-Lautrec (1864 - 1901) is a well known Post-Impressionist painter that captured his audience with many famous paintings but also with his lithographs from the cabaret theater. He was commissioned to make the posters for the cabaret, which was also called Moulin Rouge to advertise the productions and shows.
It was a good match and Lautrec held a reserved seat for all performances during this time and was also allowed to show his paintings in the theater. It was during this time a flurry of posters were produced and this is just one fine example of his talent as seen in the Tapestry Moulin Rouge, by Lautrec.
This wall hanging is a recreation of the famous poster and illustrates a vintage advertisement for Moulin Rouge.
