Le Chateau de Monceau Wall Hanging

Le Chateau de Monceau Tapestry

Classic Wall Decor

The Chateau of Monceau Tapestry originates from a series of works that were created by Charles Le Brun, who was a famous French painter and engraver of the 17th Century. One series Brun made was called Royal Homes which are grand tapestries that were woven from a master artist's painting.

In this series Brun depicted the Homes of the French Royalty, which were made into tapestries at Gobelins Manufacturing around the themes of the month, symbolized by the zodiac, and the activities represented at each palace and castle - hunting, dancing, walking, and so on...

The full name Chateau de Monceau means - The Royal Homes. It represents the month of December and the sign of Capricorn. Also Louis 14 is hunting wild boar in the background and within sight of the Chateau of Monceau.
