French painter Paul Ranson was born in Limoges (1864 - 1909) and studied at Ecole des Arts Dcoratifs and the Acadmie Julian in Paris. Later he joined the Nabis group and each Saturday they all met in his studio at the Boulevarde du Montparnasse. Ranson along with his wife Marie created the Acadmie Ranson to teach Nabi techniques.
